Question:
What would be considered a good time
for a first time marathon runner and
how long beforehand would I have to
start training for this?
Answer:
That depends on too many factors to
give an answer to with the info you
provided.. For someone to even make
a stab in the dark, you would need
to provide the following information:
Weight
Height
Body Type (ectomorph, endomorph, mesomorph
: skinny, average, big-boned)
Your current weekly training schedule
(how many days per week do you run,
how many miles do you run on each
of those days and how fast do you
run each of those runs)
Even then, until you run at least
a half-marathon (13.1 miles), there
is no way to give a good answer.
It also depends on your goals for
the marathon. For some, just finishing
it is what they want and they are
happy with 4:30 to 8:00 hours. I would
say for someone who runs about 20-23
minute 5K, and 46-50 minute 10K, a
good time for a marathon would be
4 hours.
