Asics Gel-Lyte Running Shoes |
Question:
I am shopping around for a new pair
of running shoes. I have been wearing
Asics GEL-LYTE V for the past 2 years.
They were recommended to me by my
running partners. I found the shoes
relatively comfortable and really
like its lightweight feature, and
most importantly, they are combination
lasted. My podiatrist strongly recommended
combination last shoes for my running
after my knee injury from running
4 years ago. I seem to like the GEL-LYTE
V better than the old GEL-EXULT.
Just this past year, I began to increase
my weekly training to 28 to 38 miles
per week to train for longer distance
races. I am hoping to do my first
marathon this fall. My knee problem
seem to have gone away, however my
feet began to give me a new set of
problems. I have flat feet so my podiatrist
prescribed sport orthotics for me.
But I still experience sore arches,
and plantar fasciitis symptom. So
I start to wonder if I am wearing
the right type of shoes after all.
I notice that GEL-LYTE V shoes are
curved. Could the curved feature possibly
introduced the foot problems or because
of the increase of my training?
Answer:
I just bought the new DS Trainer by
Asics. It is the best shoe I have
ever tried. It is almost as light
as a racing flat but feels real stable
and responsive. The one question is
what will it look like after a couple
of hundred miles? I had been using
GEL Lyte and Exult but read a favorable
review of the DS in a new Runners
World.
